Los Angeles County Fire Fighters Raise $330,000

June 12, 2009 - Los Angeles County, CA Local 1014 held its 7th Annual Fill-the-Boot campaign benefiting MDA, raising more than $330,000 over three days. Top dollars raised honors go to Battalion 5 with more than $37,000. Most improved honors go to Battalion 11 with a $13,000 increase over 2008. Thanks to Local 1014 members and their families, Local 1014’s seven-year total is $2.23 million. The money raised will be used to fund services for Southern California families living with neuromuscular disease.

MDA’s clinics at UCLA, USC, Ranchos Los Amigos and Olive View will be able to continue offering comprehensive health care to those families. As always, children from across Southern California will be able to attend the best week of the year at MDA Summer Camp in August. In addition, MDA will continue to fund 45 life-saving research projects throughout the state of California.
