Edmonton Fire Fighters’ Campout Is Huge Success

May 21, 2007 - Edmonton, AB Local 209 fire fighters wrapped up their 2nd Annual Campout in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada (MDC) March 12, 2007.

Local 209 members Paul McGonigal, Tom Folkerts, Steve Eliason and Natasha Ward braved the elements and pounded the pavement in search of donations March 8-12, 2007, raising more than $35,000 in just four days.

In addition to raising money for MDC, the Campout generated greater awareness of muscular dystrophy in the Edmonton area. The media reported daily on the progress of the campers, and reminded Edmonton residents to contribute for a good cause.

Events held throughout the Campout included a combat challenge, vehicle extrication demonstration and a wheelchair obstacle course.
