MDA Praises Imperial County Fire Fighters

April 15, 2007 - Imperial County, California, heroes have done it again! The combined efforts of Brawley, CA Local 1967, Calexico, CA Local 1966 and El Centro, CA Local 3788 raised more than $13,500 for the local San Diego and Imperial County chapter of MDA.

El Centro: Dedicated and tireless fire fighters donate their time and energy to MDA year after year. Local 3788 member Alex Romero coordinated El Centro’s 11th annual Fill-the-Boot with 17 El Centro fire fighters to collect more than $6,719 in just six hours.

Calexico: Local 1966 member and MDA Coordinator Channing Dawson collected $3,244 for the San Diego and Imperial Chapter of MDA.

Brawley: Local 1967 member Jesse Zendejas coordinated a great event, raising $3,836 with his team of fire fighters. He was joined by his wife Hilda Zendejas.

The money raised by Imperial County IAFF members will help more than 1,200 local children and adults living with any of the 40 neuromuscular diseases and help fund continuous medical attention, support groups, mobility equipment and a summer camp for children in San Diego and Imperial County between the ages of six and 21.
