Loudoun Career Fire Fighters Raise
$87,000
March 22, 2007 - With the help of fire
fighters, generous donations from the public and the local
union, Loudon, VA Local 3756 raised $85,758 for MDA in
2006. This total puts Local 3756 in the number-two spot for
highest fundraising local in the Commonwealth of Virginia,
surpassing IAFF locals in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and
Arlington, as well as Maryland locals including Baltimore
and Prince George’s County.

Fire fighters at station 19 in South Riding
won the “Golden Boot” trophy for highest fundraising fire
station. In addition, South Riding fire fighters won
bragging rights for an entire year, a surprise award and a
chance to host the 2007 MDA Fill-the-Boot Kick-off Party.
The
Aldie fire station 7 won an honorable mention for raising
$13,133, as did Ashburn fire station 6 for raising $12,815.
All of the money collected by Local 3756 will help fund the
following:

Summer camp for 60 area youngsters

43 wheelchairs, braces and communication
devices

435 clinic visits at Children's National
Medical Center in Washington, DC

1,338 minutes of research at Georgetown
University Hospital in Washington, DC
