The IAFF will personally contact all the families of all the fire fighters to be honored in the 2010 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial Observance. Information concerning the memorial ceremony and accommodations for family members and escorts will be sent from the IAFF to the families of those fire fighters and paramedics who will be honored at this year’s ceremony and to the President of the IAFF Local Affiliate where the death occurred. Each family member attending this year’s memorial must register online by Tuesday, August 10, 2010. If you do not have access to a computer to register, call the memorial staff at (202) 824-8639. It is imperative that family members respond as soon as possible to ensure their attendance. The registration desk for family members will be set up at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Colorado Springs beginning on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at noon. Each pre-registered family member will receive information packets and credentials that will provide them with reserved seating at the September 11th ceremony. There will be a family/flag presenter meeting on Friday, September 10, 2010 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. in the Summit Ballroom of the Crowne Plaza Hotel. The Crowne Plaza will have a family room that will be staffed from noon to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 9th and Friday, September 10th; Saturday, September 11th, from 9:00 to 11:30 a.m. and 4:30 to 9:00 p.m. The staff will be prepared to answer questions and provide assistance to family members attending the ceremony for the first time. Plans also call for a Friday night reception and a Saturday morning breakfast for family members and others attending the memorial observance |
