Memorial Run in Millville to Raise Money for Veterans

August 24, 2005 – Susan Walkup-Justis and the City of Millville, New Jersey are organizing the 2nd Annual Tom Walkup Jr. Memorial Poker Run in memory of Staff Sergeant Tom Walkup Jr., son of retired Philadelphia, PA Local 22 fire fighter Tom Walkup Sr. The poker run will be held in Millville, New Jersey on October 8, 2005 to raise money for a memorial park to honor all war veterans.

Susan Walkup-Justis is Walkup Jr.’s elder sister and is responsible for starting the charity poker run.

Walkup Jr., 25, had served in the United States Air Force for more than seven years. He was a flight engineer on a special operations helicopter and died when his aircraft crashed in Afghanistan on November 23, 2003.

Interested motorcycle riders can register for the Poker Run from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on October 8 at Millville Harley Davidson on Route 47, New Jersey. The $15 fee per rider and $10 per passenger includes T-shirt and meal ticket. Non-riders can participate from Babe Ruth Ball Field on Ware Avenue, Millville, New Jersey.
