Fire in the Sky Ride
February 28, 2008 -- The IAFF-MG 3rd
District will hold a Fire in the Sky ride on June 19, 2008,
during Laconia Motorcycle Week.
Each year for one day, the auto road up Mount Washington is
closed to all vehicles except motorcycles. This ride brings
thousands of bikers up Mount
Washington, the highest point in New England. There may
still be snow near the top, so dress appropriately.
The ride begins at 9:00 a.m. in Lebanon, New Hampshire, from
Central Fire Station and travels to the Kancamangus Highway where bikers from
the southern region will join the ride. The ride continues through Bear Notch,
Glen and Pinkham Notch to the Mount Washington auto road.
The cost for the auto road is $12 per motorcycle and operator,
and $7.50 per passenger. After the ride to the top, featuring fantastic scenery
and weather station, the ride will conclude at the base of the mountain where
the Mount Washington HOG Chapter will provide food and entertainment.
