NIOSH Seeks Safety and Occupational Health Specialist

May 8, 2008 – The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), Division of Safety Research with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Morgantown, West Virginia, is looking for a Safety and Occupational Health Specialist in the Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program.

The NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program was created in 1998, and is designed to better define the magnitude and characteristics of work-related deaths and severe injuries among fire fighters, to conduct field investigations of work-related fatalities and to develop and disseminate recommendations for injury prevention.

The NIOSH Morgantown facility is a national leader in occupational safety research to prevent job-related injuries. NIOSH conducts independent investigations of line-of-duty fire fighter fatalities. Investigations involve site visits, interviews with fire department personnel and interviews and meetings with other parties.
