Escape to the Wild Season 2 Premieres Friday, January 4!

January 2, 2008 -- The second season of "Escape to the Wild" airs January 4, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. on VERSUS television. This groundbreaking new series, created by the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership (TRCP) and VERSUS, features union members on expenses-paid trips to world-class hunting or fishing destinations. Hosted by Tom Ackerman, an accomplished fly fisherman, wing shooter and big game hunter, "Escape to the Wild" will air every Friday at 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time, with encore airings on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. Eastern Time.

The 2008 season takes viewers to the jungles of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, South Africa's plains, Costa Rica, the Northwest Territory and other incredible destinations.

Gary Green, a member of Racine, WI Local 321, will appear in the March 7 episode.

An avid turkey hunter and president of one of the National Wild Turkey Federation chapters in Wisconsin, Gary dreamed of hunting the beautiful, ocellated turkey in Mexico and one day achieving the World Slam, achieved by successfully hunting all five wild turkey subspecies in North America and the ocellated turkey.

“Thanks to my union, the TRCP and Versus Network, I got to hunt the most difficult one,” says Gary, referring to the location and cost of hunting the ocellated turkey. “I definitely wouldn’t be able to afford a turkey hunt with weddings coming up and kids in college.”

Union members tuning in for the premiere on January 4 have a chance to watch the rest of the season in style on a 42-inch plasma HDTV through a "win-and-watch" sweepstakes.

"Escape to the Wild" is made possible by the generous support of many of America's leading trade unions, including the International Association of Fire Fighters.

Inspired by the legacy of Theodore Roosevelt, TRCP is a coalition of organizations and grassroots partners working together to preserve the traditions of hunting and fishing.
