December 3, 2007 -- The IAFF is remembering Worcester, MA Local 1009 fire fighters Paul A. Brotherton, Timothy P. Jackson, Jeremiah M. Lucey, James F. “Jay” Lyons III, Joseph T. McGuirk, and Lt. Thomas E. Spencer – all killed in the line of duty at the Worcester Cold Storage and Warehouse Co. building in Worcester, Massachusetts, on December 3, 1999.

IAFF General President Harold Schaitberger says, “This incident devastated our members, the community of Worcester and our entire nation.”

The IAFF, Worcester Fire Department and Worcester, MA Local 1009 memorial service drew 30,000 fire fighters and 10,000 civilians in what was then the largest such service for fire fighters killed in the line of duty.
